The micro-credential will be delivered as a blended delivery mode (i.e., face to face
and online) in accordance with CCTA's Quality Management Systems (QMS). It is
delivered as: 4 weeks full time of study comprising 10 credits at Level 4 OR 8 weeks
part-time of study comprising 10 credits at level 4.

Aim
This micro credential aims to provide learners with advanced knowledge of asbestos management and surveying in construction, building and aligned industries. It covers topics related to sampling and identifying asbestos, tasks required by asbestos surveyor and the risks the work involves, and use of a quality management system and industry standards. It also aims to develop learners’ decision-making skills and communication skills – written and verbal.

Outcome
On completion of this micro credential, learners will be able to:
- Identify and describe New Zealand’s regulations and requirements of asbestos levels within the context of construction and building.
- Identify asbestos hazards, assess the risk, and determine the measures to eliminate and minimise the level of risks.
- Plan, prepare and complete asbestos management and asbestos surveys
Entry requirement
All applicants for the asbestos management and surveying micro-credential (Level 4) should be a minimum of 18 years of age, and have completed a minimum of NCEA Level 2 or equivalent knowledge and skills. Applicants, whose first language is not English, or who come from a country where the language of instruction in schools is not English, are required to provide evidence of having achieved one of the acceptable evidence per NZQA’s requirements.
