Class A Asbestos Removal Course Overview

This training course was developed for tradespeople and businesses that require to remove and manage asbestos or asbestos-containing materials (ACM) under Class A. Tradespeople tasked to remove friable asbestos must complete this training before undertaking any kind of job.
Class A asbestos is known as friable asbestos. The name is given to asbestos materials that are powdery or can become dust from being crushed when dry, which is considered the most dangerous class of asbestos. With little pressure from one’s hand, it can become dust and release hazardous fibres into the air. This poses a big threat as it can easily come in contact with skin or be inhaled by anyone in the area. In many countries, cancer developed by those exposed to asbestos remain the number one workplace killer.
Friable asbestos products are common in building materials such as roofing, ceilings, floor tile backing, low-density boards (LDB), thermal insulation, sprayed coatings, weathered Class B asbestos, and asbestos-contaminated dust (ACD) produced from Class B products.
Managing and working with this type of asbestos requires a Class A license. Class A jobs also require the presence of someone licensed to supervise asbestos removal. It is considered more dangerous than Class B asbestos removal (remove non-friable asbestos) because it can be easily disturbed. This course will cover both the theoretical and practical components of this type of asbestos removal.
