Course Overview
The primary role of the safety observer (SO) is to monitor the movement of equipment or people, provide timely warnings of any risk or non-compliance with safe work procedures and the HSWA, and stop work if a risk situation that cannot be minimised arises.
The goal of this course is to enable a trainee to identify criteria where an SO is required to control, monitor, and maintain safety for a work site. It also involves learning about hazardous environments and activities where a safety observer may be required and outlines the responsibilities of such in the event of an emergency.
